Michael Alan Myers draws on a wealth of legal and life experience to provide clients with the superlative level of representation they deserve. Mike is a 1997 honors graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law and graduated in the top 15% of his law school class. Since graduation, Mike has worked extensively as both lead insurance defense counsel and lead plaintiff’s counsel and has provided excellent representation for hundreds of clients. In addition to obtaining multiple settlements in excess of one million dollars for clients, he crafted the legal arguments and ideas behind one of Tennessee’s leading published court opinions on the negligence element of duty, in the case of West v. East Tennessee Pioneer Oil Company, 172 S.W.3d 545 (Tenn. 2005).
Mike has earned a number of professional accolades and recognitions for as a lawyer over the past 20 years, including the AV* Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, a designation earned by only the most experienced and most highly regarded lawyers in the United States, membership as a Master of the Bench in Knoxville’s legal honorary, The Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court, Board Advisor for the Lawyers of Distinction, and a Superb rating from Avvo.com. Mike genuinely enjoys working closely with clients to help them move forward with their lives after they have sustained personal injuries that are someone else’s fault.
Mike was born near Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio while his father was in the United States Air Force. He grew up in East Tennessee attending Claiborne County High School in Tazewell. Mike enjoyed playing football and baseball and remains a proud Blue Devil for life. He earned numerous scholar-athlete awards, academic scholarships and a four-year Air Force ROTC scholarship to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Mike obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force. He served from 1986-1994. While in the Air Force, he earned his master’s degree in counseling from South Dakota State University. Mike served as a Missile Combat Crew Commander and instructor at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, and as a course director and instructor at the Air Force Special Operations School at Hurlburt Field, Florida. Mike also had the honor of directing and teaching a command level crisis response management course in Washington DC.
Outside of the office, Mike serves as an active member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Delta Delta Chapter House Corporation, where he manages the Kelly-Edwards Memorial Scholarship and the Robert Lee Torchbearer Scholarship, both endowed scholarships with the University of Tennessee. As a veteran, Mike is a proud member of the American Legion.
Mike lives in the Fountain City area of Knoxville. He has been married since 1999 to Laura, his wife and law partner. Mike and Laura have twin sons who are active Central High School students and Bobcat Band members. He stays busy traveling with his family and doing his best to keep up with teenagers.
